Colour
Lagotto come in a variety of colours, including cream, brown, orange, white with brown or orange spots. Some also have a dark face mask.
Grooming
Apart from occasional brushing, Lagotto benefit from being clipped right back at least twice a year.
History
Also called Lagotto Romagnolo, the breed was developed originally as water retrievers. However their excellent nose and the reduction in opportunities for plying their original trade, meant they were developed into truffle hunting dogs in Europe with great success. They are widely used for this purpose in Europe today.
Positives
Lagotto are an excellent family dog, and are very good with children.
Negatives
Lagotto are not a common breed, and are thus quite expensive to purchase.
