Salukis can be any
colour or combination of colours, except brindle.
Grooming
Because of the
feathering in their coat, a daily light brushing is recommended for the
Saluki.
History
Salukis have an
ancient history, being depicted in royal seals over 3,000 years ago. They
originated in the middle east, where they are still held in high regard.
They were developed as a sight hound for hunting a variety of game.
Positives
Saluki are a "quiet"
breed, in that they are not yappers, and will not be distressed by having
owners that work every day. They are intelligent and adaptable to
training.
Negatives
Saluki are experts at
escaping from yards. They need either a high fence, or an electronic/scent
emitting collar to keep them in their yard.
