Griffon Bruxellois do not shed. The Rough Coated variety needs regular brushing, whereas the Smooth Coated obviously requires little. If the Rough Coated type does not have the hair trimmed regularly around the eyes, this can cause serious eye problems.
History

Griffon Bruxellois originated in the 19th century as a rat catcher! He is originally descended from the Affenpinscher.

Negatives
Griffon Bruxellois are difficult to breed, and the females commonly require a caesarian section in order to whelp successfully. Additionally they are well known as being difficult to house train, so advice should be sought from your breeder and/or veterinarian on tips to help with this process.
